Life-size Lightning McQueen and Mater from Cars 2 on display

If you're a fan of the Disney Pixar animated feature films Cars and Cars 2, then you'll love these life-size replicas of two of the popular stars of the movies, 'Lightning McQueen' and 'Mater'.

These fun Cars characters were photographed on display outside Disney's D23 Expo at the Anaheim Convention Center on August 19, 2011.

I believe these replicas of the animated characters were used to promote the 2011 movie sequel, as race car Lightning McQueen is sporting the World Grand Prix stickers that takes place in the second movie.

If we are to believe to a new report from Car&Driver - and we have no reason not to, Subaru will finally lift the veil off a concept version of the BRZ sports coupe with actual sheetmetal at the upcoming 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show in mid-November. And unlike the BRZ's sister model from Toyota, Subaru won't be showing another concept as both the BRZ and FT-86 (we're still not sure about the name), will be making their world premiere in final production trim at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show in December.
Citing inside sources, C&D says that Subaru and Toyota had an agreement not to show "a single production body panel" if any car until their debut at the Tokyo event, which explains why the Toyota FT-86 Concept I, II, and G Sports, as well as the more recent Scion FR-S, looked different.
But it’s not all good news as the magazine reports that the final production Toyota FT-86 (global model) and the Scion FR-S (only for North America) will be identical twins sans the badges and equipment levels, while difference with the Subaru BRZ (global model) will be limited to the front fascia.
The development of the rear-wheel drive sports car's powertrain and chassis was handled by Subaru, which will also build the cars at its Gunma facility in Japan, starting from next spring. Toyota, on the other hand, took over the styling aspect.
A Subaru-sourced 2.0-liter boxer four featuring Toyota’s port-and-direct-injection system, believed to produce around 200-ponies, will power all three cars.

It’s called the Avant GT and it looks like someone tried to make a Porsche Panamera out of a Honda Crosstour. The pure-electric model was first shown in Shanghai earlier this year and it’s the product of five companies – none of which have any real experience building cars – including Taiwanese design firm Studio X-Gene, financial partner Altair ProductDesign and technological partners Delta Electronics, Wistron and Qisda. The Avant GT is being marketed as, “a pure electric sports grand tourer” – which I suppose makes it Taiwan’s Tesla or Fisker wannabe. Let’s see what the company bigwigs have to say about it, starting with Studio X-Gene executive director Albert Yang:
"The Avant GT is a unique project for Studio X-Gene and represents the quality of automotive design expertise available in Taiwan today. Partnering with Altair ProductDesign proved invaluable. Combining our design knowledge with Altair's engineering and optimization expertise has allowed us to deliver this exciting, high-performance new vehicle to the Shanghai Auto Show and really make an impact on the automotive community."
When will it be on sale? We don’t know. How much will it cost? We don’t know that either, though we guess we'll find out soon enough.
